Five easy ways to enjoy more fruits and vegetables
Our series of posts on nutrition continues with a look at five easy ways to enjoy more fruits and vegetables. Adding fruits and vegetables to your eating plans is as easy as 1, 2, 3?plus 4 and 5.
- Wake up to fruit. Make a habit of drinking juice or complementing cereal, yogurt or pancakes with sliced or dried fruit.
- Try these ?grate? ideas: Add grated, shredded or chopped vegetables, such as zucchini, spinach and carrots to lasagna, meatloaf, mashed potatoes or pasta dishes.
- ?Sandwich? in fruits and vegetables. Add pizzazz to sandwiches with sliced pineapple, apples, peppers, cucumbers and tomatoes as fillings.
- Get creative with pizza. Make it a ?deluxe? with vegetable toppings like broccoli, carrot shreds, thinly sliced zucchini, chopped spinach, read and green peppers strips, chopped tomato or any other vegetables.
- Stuff an omelet with vegetables. Turn any omelet into a hearty meal with broccoli, squash, carrots, peppers, tomatoes and onions.
